Time is a level playing field

Time is a level playing field

The Precious Present

You have time…as much as any other person in this world, Einstein, Oprah, Bill Gates, or Beethoven – anyone else you deem having more time to learn, progress, gain money, experience, build an empire.

Time is a level playing field and this is what is meant by “In good time” and “God speed”…

Today is Tuesday. I had to consciously remember today because every day is blending into the next as it does in busier times in our lives. For many of us, it’s a constant barrage of to do lists, emails, and go, go, go.

Remember the time when we used to “listen to music”? …on a record or cassette player? We used to hang out with family and friends and just…hang out? For so many, the 24/7 demand on our time, created by our having a phone with us all the time, has turned our lifestyles into something different.

Yesterday, I made a commitment to meditate 5 minutes a day for the next week. FIVE MINUTES! I had to make a concerted effort to make that commitment because every single day, seven days a week, I become washed away by the busyness and distractions due to the convenience of technology.

So what does it take to do all those things we wish we had time for, i.e.. reading, writing, calling a friend? It takes a concerted effort to “make it so”, in the words of Jean Luc Picard. Whether starting a new business, beginning anything new, getting fit, or making time for ourselves, it simply takes the decision to put one foot in front of another.

A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.

Lao Tzu

Give yourself the gift of time. Step back from what you are habitually doing and think about what you’d really like to be doing. Add it in one step at a time. You can do it. Time is on our side.

CLICK TO SONG TITLE TO LISTEN>>Did you know, *“Time Is On My Side is a song written by someone named Jerry Ragovoy (under the pseudonym of Norman Meade)? It was first recorded by jazz trombonist Kai Winding and his Orchestra in 1963 and covered by both soul singer Irma Thomas and the Rollings Stones in 1964!

I love this posting! As one gets older, time seems shorter. Of course that is directly related to moving slower and taking more time to execute a task that was so easy and quick in our younger years. So time continues to be at the top of our list of “concerted efforts”. Your blog comforts me that I am not alone. Time is an equal factor to all who strive to give our day meaing and worth. Thank you for reminding me to make a “concerted effort”. Time is precious.

It is so important to be reminded that time is a level playing field. And vital that we simply “take a step”. The step always brings us freedom and … more time. Whether the step is to exercise, which results in more energy and clarity, which brings us more efficiency and more time. Or whether the step is to start something we’ve been procrastinating on. Once we start, we seem to have more time. Thanks for this Natasha. Great post.
