Continuing my occasional theme of aiming for good health, one of my Ten Top Tips for Talking, I’m always trying to gather more information on building a strong immune system. I do believe that while it is extremely important for me in my job, it’s important for everyone.

Here are 12 tips for avoiding illness in random order:

  1. Take vitamins – multi, Omega 3vitamin D – and probiotics
  2. Sleep consistently, sleep enough
  3. Avoid stress
  4. Eat 5-9 servings of Fruit and Veg per day
  5. Add fresh ginger to your meals and/or beverages
  6. Add more green vegetables in your diet
  7. Drink warm water with lemon in the morning
  8. Get fresh air regularly
  9. Take Elderberry syrup as a preventative measure
  10. Relax in a “eucalyptus” bath
  11. Avoid alcohol & sugar – it lowers your immune system
  12. Drink LOTS of water!

To be sure, here is lots more fantastic information from Harvard!

Turns out, our digestive system is vitally important for strong immunity. Did you know that? It took me a long time to discover that. Lots more information to share and I look forward to it!

Please let me know if you have any questions or other tips. I love this topic!

What does Elderberry syrup do and where is it available? Lots of great info here. Thanks Natasha!

    • If you click the link on Elderberry, you will see what WebMD says about it. Type it into Google and there is more info. I hadn’t heard of it until I moved to Nova Scotia, but those who take it, swear it staves off illness. Apparently is it available at some health food stores. I have a connection for a woman who makes it in my town and will be ordering it!!

Thankyou Natasha, these are welcome nature-based tips! Recently I was prescribed a big pharma cream for a minor rash on a leg. Scary stuff: went straight to the brain within 48 hours. My reads sounded like 4 a.m. I would rather itch.

    Good stuff, Natasha…as usual!

  4. A refreshing list here. Thank you! Especially #7…for me I try to do it every morning before coffee. It really flushes out my system.

  5. […] Avoid Illness – Again obvious perhaps, but it’s the big picture you want to look at for vocal benefits. Even after illness, our voice is weak. Repeated illness, our voice can change. What can you do right now? Add fresh ginger into your diet. Works for me! […]
